And God Laughed, A Novel

And God Laughed, A Novel

Review:

Teel is an ordained minister, the author of several non-fiction books about Christianity, which makes the discussions about religion, premarital sex, abortion, and death in this fictional piece even more interesting. Teel discards the rules and laws of traditional religion that often serve to separate man from God. This is the type of book that calls up a reader's personal history and demands active participation in reviewing the status quo and at least pondering alternatives.

And God Laughed is enlightening, inspiring, and edifying. I highly recommend it.

From the Inside Flap:

Imagine that you had the opportunity to speak to God and ask Him any questions that you like? That's exactly what happens to Justin, after a visit to a local book sale in his small mountain town. The question put forward is quizzical for his mind and emotions when he reads a book title, "Does God Exist?" Encouraged by his fiancée Alex, an atheist child psychiatrist. He decides to seek out the divine and gets more than he bargained. Alex and Justin are reeling from a catastrophic situation that nearly left their lives in ruins, Alex thinks that the conversations Justin is having are internally manifested as a result of the trauma. Through this four section novel, Justin navigates the world of the spirit where he finds pitfalls at every turn. His world is turned upside down as he engages God in, in depth question and answer sessions. There is little off the table in his conversations with God and with each conversation his world unravels and his personal system of belief founded in Christianity begins to come untangled. Encouraged on by Alex he delves into the nether regions of the workings of God and His interaction with man. He confronts the questions that haunt the deepest recesses of the human mind, mortal flesh and the sprit realm in life and death. The thought provoking conversations with the divine, lead Justin down a road of self discovery that rocks the very bedrock of all religions not just his own. And God Laughed is the fictional conversation between man and the designer of the universe.

From the Back Cover:

Who hasn't thought about what it might be like to speak to God? In And God Laughed, Justin decides to embark on conversations with the divine in what he thinks will be a failed experiment; however, instead he finds himself engaged in a dialogue that completely over takes him. The more questions that he asks the more difficult the responses are to grasp. And God Laughed straddles the realms of belief and disbelief and allows the reader to eavesdrop on conversations between creation and creator. And God Laughed takes God out of the bibles, books, churches and all religious dogmas and reveals who the divine is and how He changes the life of one completely shocked man.
